Make sure your water is hot enough, between 90.5 and 96 degree Celcius or 195 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit, which leads to ultimate extraction. Don’t forget to use the right proportion of coffee to water. A general recommendation is 1 to 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every six ounces of water. This can be adjusted to suit individual taste preferences.  

Another trick is to take out the dregs after brewing the coffee for four to five minutes. After five minutes, the dregs will produce bad cholesterol. Coffee is a cheap antioxidant, so it would be a shame if it were not processed properly.

If you are using tap water let it run a few seconds before filling your coffee pot. Be sure to use cold water. Do not use distilled or softened water. The water you use is very substantial to the quality of your coffee. Use filtered or bottled water if your tap water is not good or imparts a strong odor or taste, such as chlorine. The real coffee fans use bottled spring water or activated-charcoal/carbon filters on their taps.  According to the experts bargain-priced paper coffee filters yield poorer coffee.

Pour your coffee into a warmed mug or coffee cup, so that it will maintain its temperature as long as possible. Brewed coffee begins to lose its optimal taste moments after brewing so only brew as much coffee as will be consumed immediately. 

Take a moment to smell the aroma. Take a sip and notice your coffee's flavor. If you make more coffee than you can use immediately, always pour it into a carafe or thermos  to keep it warm.

The sweet taste and aroma of caramel is perceivable, without reducing the thick, characteristic coffee flavor. It’s like dark chocolate. Never let coffee sit on a burner or warming device, as this will kill the taste. You're going to get better results from high quality tools than you will with junk from the bargain bin. For all our talk of chemistry, molecules, particles, and extraction percentages, brewing great coffee is much less about science and much more about art. There are many methods for brewing a fine cup of coffee -- no single technique is right for everyone. And that's the beauty of coffee.
